This year, 4 July sees the United States of America mark 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, and, just a few days later, the Americana Celebration presented by Bank of America will see Goodwood spotlight a series of significant anniversaries that have shaped America’s motorsport and motoring history:
Festival of Speed’s Cathedral Paddock will become a home away from home for Goodwood’s Americana guests, welcoming up to 50 cars and bikes from across a range of disciplines.
Both the paddock and hillclimb will feature Grand Prix machinery such as the Scarab F1 and Lola Haas THL1B; early‑era Can‑Am icons including the McLaren M8F and Shadow DN4; alongside NASCAR favourites once driven by the likes of Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon; and legendary endurance examples from IMSA and Le Mans such as the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe.
As previously announced, Festival of Speed will welcome the three Ford GT Mk IIs that secured the legendary 1-2-3- finish at Le Mans in 1966. Reunited for the first time in a decade, the cars will not only appear together but also run on the hillclimb.
Legendary names from the annals of American motorsport will make the journey to Goodwood, including: Aaron Shelby, Al Unser Junior, Chris Forsberg, Colin Edwards, Dario Franchitti, Derek Hill, Emerson Fittipaldi, Freddie Spencer, Kenny Roberts Junior, Kenny Roberts Senior, Kevin Schwantz, Ryan Tuerck and Travis Pastrana.
Further details of the Americana Celebration presented by Bank of America will be announced in the coming months.
