Harrogate Convention Centre (HCC) has announced the appointment of Jamila Bray as Head of Venue Sales and Marketing following a competitive recruitment process, a major step forward in strengthening the venue’s strategic leadership during a phase of significant growth and development.
With over 10 years of experience in the events industry across major venues in Manchester and Harrogate, Bray joins HCC’s management team having successfully delivered as Sales Account Manager at HCC, where she has played a key role in winning high-value accounts, developing client relationships and supporting the venue’s recovery and growth post-COVID.
In her new role, Bray will lead the Yorkshire venue’s sales and marketing functions, developing strategies, driving continued growth especially in conference business, and strengthening the venue’s market position.
The appointment comes at a critical time as HCC invests ahead of its 45th anniversary next year, with major site development including a game-changing £9.4 million investment in additional conference breakout facilities to be completed in early 2027, bringing the venue’s total breakout capacity to 2,600, one of the largest in the UK.
When discussing the appointment, Michael Constantine, Head of Operations at HCC, says, “Following a wide-ranging recruitment process, we are delighted to appoint Jamila into this new role. Her progression within HCC is a testament to her talent, dedication, drive and commercial insight. Jamila brings a fresh perspective combined with a deep understanding of our business, and we look forward to Jamila playing a key role in delivering our future growth ambitions.”
Jamila Bray, Head of Venue Sales & Marketing at HCC, adds, “I’m proud to be stepping into the role of Head of Venue Sales & Marketing. Having joined the team seven years ago, I’ve seen first-hand the strength of our unique offer and I’ve had the opportunity to grow alongside the business, backed by the belief that hard work and staying true to my values would lead to growth – and it has.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the support of amazing colleagues along the way. Now, I’m excited for this next chapter, working with a fantastic team to continue championing Harrogate Convention Centre and North Yorkshire as a leading events destination.”
